PM Thanks King for Honoring His Brother with Title of “Samdech”

KAMPONG CHAM: Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked the King of Cambodia, King Norodom Sihamoni, for his willingness to honor his brother, Hun Neng, with the title of “Samdech,” following his passing on Thursday, 5 May 2022, from a heart attack.

In this letter addressed to the King dated 7 May 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife stated that they would like to thank His Majesty the King, for his intention to grant the title of "Samdech Udom Tep Nhean Hun Neng" to his older brother, as stated in Royal Decree No. NS / RKOT / 0522/478 dated 7 May 2022.

The Prime Minister added, "The title of "Samdech Udom Tep Nhean Hun Neng,” which His Majesty the King was willing to bestow on this occasion, is indeed a worthy and supreme merit of Samdech Udom Tep Nhean, who sacrificed everything to serve the interests of the nation, religion and the King for the sake of peace, both physical and mental."

The Prime Minister bowed to the King, wishing His Majesty the four blessings of the Buddha: age, class, happiness, strength.

Prime Minister Hun Sen’s older brother, Hun Neng, died at the age of 72 at about 6:25 PM on Thursday, 5 May 2022, from a heart attack. He was given the title of "Samdech Odom Tep Nhean" today by the King because of his understanding that Hun Neng was loyal to the throne, defended and respected Buddhism and upheld social justice for the perpetuation of the Kingdom Cambodia.
